MindSpaces - João Martinho Moura (2021-2022)

In 2020 I was selected artist in the MindSpaces program, a STARTS European Commission initiative aiming to create new urban and architectural approaches integrating immersive ‘neuroenvironments’ in virtual reality.

Video#1  João Martinho Moura, MindSpaces. Featured artist works; “Hello L’Hospitalet”, assorted recordings in virtual reality in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, in August 2020. Video by: MindSpaces presented at Ars Electronica 2020 in Kepler’s Gardens. [Vimeo] [Youtube] [Video details]

This video presents my work in progress, bringing embodied environments among urban spaces. In this experience, I am teleported to L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, a municipality in Spain, located in the immediate southwest of Barcelona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia.

The artistic and research work, in collaboration with the MindSpaces consortium, will involve neurosciences, embodiment, spatial virtual technologies, and virtual reality.

I’m interested in collaborating with Mindspaces consortium in the field of embodiment, neurosciences, and telepresence. I will collaborate with the Brain and Emotion Laboratory at Maastricht University, lead by Professor Beatrice de Gelder, to develop my ideas related to emotion and telepresence, and out of body sensations in the urban space.
